DEAN'S MESSAGE

Dr. Vikas Bharadwaj

NMIMS School of Performing Arts

Greetings !

School of Performing Arts (SoPA) is a home to talented music students, renowned artists, and experienced faculty members from around India and beyond.

First and foremost, I want to express my sincere admiration for your dedication and passion for music. You have chosen a path that requires not only talent but also perseverance and hard work, and I have no doubt that each of you possesses the potential to achieve great things in the world of music. The journey of music is a lifelong pursuit of learning and growth, and each lesson, rehearsal, and performance offer an opportunity for personal and artistic development.

The rich diverse cultural background of our students makes SoPA a hot spot of talent. Talented students who are good at music join after a tough audition. Our creative curriculum is made to spark and keep alive the curiosity of our students, helping them grow as individuals and think critically. Whether studying Indian Classical Music or Western Contemporary Music, our goal remains the same: to equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their musical careers.

The School offers three years undergraduate program in Indian Classical Music and Western Contemporary. I'm incredibly proud of how SoPA family has progressed, starting with just 13 students to around 125 dedicated individuals into our community. Our Indian Music program, which we introduced in the year 2021, is also growing richer and denser as our Western Music program prospers with every academic year. Besides the theory and practical session, special techniques introduced are an added feature to the curriculum which fosters and encourages individual thinking by the students to realize and assimilate music in its greater depth and dimension. We do organize Baithak, Monthly concert "Naad Expression”, in-house concerts, workshops, Guided- Listening session and many more events that strengthens the concept of "Assurance of Learning”. The Essence of Riyaz concept in Indian Music spanning from the traditional "Brahm Muhrat Riyaz" to the structured practice regimen of dedicating two hours within the campus has profoundly enhanced Indian Music learning. It is widely acknowledged for its significant role and deemed as miraculous."

I extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated faculty and staff for their unwavering support and commitment to our mission. Together, we will continue to nurture and inspire the next generation of musical talent.

Stay tuned !
